Me and my boys
Walking through the woods
Jumping over fallen trees
The fresh air sure feels good
We're throwing sticks and skipping stones
Swimming in the noon day sun
My favorite season has begun
It's the first day of summer
Hey, would you look at my dog
Try to chase a bird into the sky
Kids just found a tire swing
Guess they're gonna see if they can fly
There's gotta be a thousand wild flowers
Sweet magnolia on the wind
I'm just taking it all in
It's the first day of summer
Why can't life be like this all the time
Not a worry in the world
Kinda makes me wonder how I'm living mine
Cause what I need
Are more days like these
This really is your last "one more time"
Come on boys, it's getting late
Look at the sun disappear into the lake
The season's just now starting boys
I promise I'll bring you back real soon
Right now we gotta say good night to
This first day of summer
Why can't life be like this all the time
Not a worry in the world
Kinda makes me wonder how I'm living mine
Cause what I need
Are more days like these
With me and my boys
Walking through the woods
Walking through the woods |
This
song is pretty self-explanatory, especially to those who know me.
I love to be outdoors
with my dogs and my horse. This song was inspired on a
first day of summer. I was
out riding my horse, Sam, and had my only dog at the time,
Carson, out in the woods on a glorious day. We walked,
we jumped, we ran, we played
stick, we swam—we did all those wonderful things.
With
most of the music and first couple of verses under my belt,
I finished this
song with co-writer Steve Seskin on a trip to write with
him at his home outside San Francisco, California. |
